I struggle with these books. I really do. I've recommended them so many times simply because I adore Lestat. He's the reason I've given this book such a high rating. He is a fascinating creature, and I only wish he was in the hands of someone other than Anne Rice.

I think the problem is that Lestat is such a powerful, complex, and enchanting character that the others pale in significance in comparison to him. I grew bored reading about Armand - I wanted to get back to Lestat. I grew bored reading about Marius - I wanted more of Lestat! For some reason I never found myself drawn in enough to care much for these others.

Lestat himself can grow wearisome. Perhaps I'm just a simple soul who would prefer action and drama as opposed to page upon page of Lestat philosophizing over life, death and religion.
