The Bell Jar has and always will be one of my all-time favorite books. If you were never forced to read it for school, do yourself a favor and force yourself to read it now. And by force I mean leisurely take the time, because you will not regret it or forget it.

Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar is a somewhat personal look into the life of Plath. This is her only novel, and it is loosely based off of her actual life, and the torment of self loathing, possible bipolar disorder, and clinical depression that she suffered with in the entirety of her life, before she ended it. Plath is said to have committed suicide about a month after The Bell Jar was published.
