really liked it
Read in December, 2009, read count: first time- it's brand new

So far, I love it! I'm probably half-way done. It's hard to tell exactly on the Kindle- no pages but it does include a progression of dots and I am moving along nicely.
If it weren't for my love of Barbara Kingsolver's work, I might have given up on this one after the first few chapters but I so happy I stayed with it. Now in the center of the book, after chapters with our young protagonist, a writer, who meets up with Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo and Trotsky, I was engaged and in it to stay.
It took time. This is a different book for Barbara, nothing like my favorite: Animal Dreams.
I cheer on her need to change her own style. What a great challenge.
So I'm in it and I'll be back with more as I read along...happily...

Reading Progress

12/17/2009 "It was slow going at first. Different writing style for Kingslover, but now in the center of the book, LOVE IT!"

What made you add this to your list? I saw it on NPR's best seller list but wasn't sure if I should add it to my to-read list.

Bonnie I love Barbara Kingsolver. I read everything she writes and like lots of BK fans we've been waiting for the next novel.
