 rating: 4 of 5 stars I have finally finished the book. It was good and I am glad that I am doing my book talk on it. The entire plot was great and I am glad that I read it. The story starts out with Dorothy, who is a small girl from Kansas who is in her house playing with her dog Toto. All of the sudden she sees a tornado outside and it was coming her way. She has no time to get to her cellar and so her house gets swept away and carried to a foreign land that she had never see before.
 
 The characters were Dorothy, The Tinman, The Scarecrow, and The Lion. They were all lacking things that they needed. Dorothy wanted to go home,the Tinman wants a heart, the Scarecrow wants some brains, and the Loin wants some courage. All of these characters are described by indirect characterization because they weren't being described by the author. However, in order to get these things they have to reach the City of Oz to meet the all powerful Oz to help the characters get the things that they want. Dorothy also has found that she is very powerful because she has killed one of the Wicked Witches and has gotten her slippers. These help them on the way to the City of Oz. 
 
 Many of the conflicts in the story were external conflicts because it was mostly Man vs. Man or Man vs. Nature. Many of the events in this story were part of foreshadowing because it lead you on to where you thought that the story was going to go next. Most of the time you were correct because you coudld predict the events. Another thing that was great about this story was the climax. It was pretty suspensful because you ,this time, didn't know what was going to happen next.
