The Alienist by Caleb Carr
freaking hell --- i had this nightmare that one of my english teachers (the really fat slow one) was eating my family. then he started to pop out my eyeballs because i was about to be next and i woke up.
and i totally remembered this book. i read this during college when taking a humanities class on nyc. if you know about nyc or if youre wanting to visit, then you can go through the whole city (in sort of a scary/ thriller sort of way) when reading the alienist. i loved it -- a great mystery, even though its a bit insane and gorey.
