"Important" book which I haven't the context to properly evaluate. Interesting essays, well-written, and a classic within its field as well as part of a larger and somewhat intense debate regarding what parts of "New World" or "Atlantic" culture are African and what parts are "original."
(Oh, and African-American means North, South, and Central American as well as the Caribbean in this context. It's an anthropology thing.)
