So difficult to read... VERY well researched and very depressing. I just didn't need a large book on why people aren't very good at making the correct decisions to survive, I can see it every day in the current world situation.

Joan (Mooncat) cool, let me know what you think

Trunatrschild I can tell you some right now! I think I should have read his previous book first, about the rise of civilizations, as he admits, this one is a bit more depressing... faced with choices, what makes some societies choose the ones to succeed and some not? Like Iceland, the Norse almost wiped themselves out, but changed and became a very balanced success story... I am at the point where he's talking about us... and it's both scary and depressing, specially as I know that we'll never make the decisions that we need to to survive, irregardless of climate change... but I am barely into this book, it's very large. Not a book for the faint of heart.
