Very nicely done... a nice balance of fantasy and historical fiction. The book tells the story of a British Navy captain during the Napoleonic wars who is sort of shanghaied into the "Aerial Corps" - the military division of mounted dragons. It's not terribly suspenseful or surprising, but it is an engaging and well-imagined view of what it might have looked like to have dragons in the world. It only scratches the surface of some issues, but as this is the start of the series, one hopes to further explore them later on.
