Set in Elizabethan times, Meggy is a cripple sent to London to live with her alchemist father. While vividly portraying life in London in that age, I found the beginning a bit confusing and the language somewhat difficult, particularly for the reading level. The story is rather slight and unless a young reader has a particular interest in the subject, it could be a slow read.
