really liked it
bookshelves: made-me-cry, cultural-critiques

I don't know if my opinion of this book is suepr biased because I was dating an african american when I read this but all I remember (this being six years since I cracked the book open) is beautiful language with an even more beautiful message. Kidd isn't shoving civil rights down our throats, she is simplisitc in her style which only adds to the beauty of this book. Not preachy, not heavy with superfluous adjectives... pure seems like a poor word choice but the thesaurus in my mind is lacking. It's pure.
