I probably wouldn't have been as excited about this book if I had known that it was the first book in a series. Part of the draw for me was the idea that it had a true ending. I wish I had known about the kids' names because I would have spent some time going back through a text version to see where each one fit the pattern. Other than that, the audio version was perfect. The pace was well kept with just enough variation between the characters. This book would definitely make a good movie. It has plenty of drama with enough important characters in addition to the throwaways to keep a reader invested without making everything too tragic. I did not appreciate the ending, but I always have a bit of trouble with books that set up for sequels.
