This is the story of twins, separated for 23 years, remembering the tragic events that led to their separation.

I just loved this book - it is written in such flowing, lyrical language that you just flow with it, like the river in the story - sometimes circling in an eddy, and other times rushing downstream. I also loved the people in this book - with their loves, and their disappointments, and their wickedness. There seemed to be a benign sunlight on everything in the book - an air of optimism, which when given the plot is quite surprising, but the writing was full of love for this place, and these characters.
