The Abbot's Ghost or Maurice Treherne's Temptation

Very interesting story. The edition I read was online and I was unaware at the time that A.M. Barnard was a pen name for Louisa May Alcott. There were moments in the narrative and styling of this piece that strongly brought to my mind the works of Virginia Woolf. A nice short story for a stormy day.
