This book is a complex tale of betrayal and deception, a moving love story, and a fascinating journey into the lethal politics of the Middle East. What sets this novel apart from others that have tried to tackle Middle East conflicts, is that Patterson uses the novel as a mechanism to cleverly discuss the tensions in the Middle East without ever preaching to either side.
The only real complaint I had was that it was sometimes difficult for me to keep the names of some of the lesser characters in the novel straight, as well as the names of the political or terrorist groups.
Overall this book is dramatic, thoughtful, and is definitely worth reading.
