If I had it to do again, I would have bought a different edition. First of all, I'd get a version that's translated into verse, as it was written. This version is prose, and I really think the text missing the quality of verse. The "translator" fully admits in the introduction that it's not his translation, that he's taken several different scholarly translations and edited them into this prose version. His introduction is also weak, hard to follow, and somewhat slanted towards a very Judeo-Christian educational background, almost ignoring any sort of knowledge of classical Roman or Greek mythology that his readers might have. But my interest is piqued, and I might see if I can find a Norton Critical or equivalent and actually learn something about the text.
