I've tried reading this book a couple of times and always for some reason or another I get distracted and end up not getting past the first chapter. However because I loved Zadie Smith's book, On Beauty, I decided to give White Teeth the benefit of the doubt. This book is extremely intricate and has many details to every character. One thing that I thought was excellent about the book was that through the journey of reading it I felt as though I knew every single character. I also could relate to the vast array of topics that were expressed in this book; religion, race, family etc. My only hangup about this book is that at times I felt like the book droned onand then left many stories unfinished. I would say that this book is at a pretty hihg level and handles some testy subjects. I would reccomend it to anyone who has enough brainspace to really pay attention to the finer details of the story. As you can see it took me until the summer to realy be able to focus on this book. But I would still reccomend it, the plot twists always kept me turning the page.
