I wanted so much to like this book because it sounds good but Brockway made the fatal mistake of trying to write a witty character. When this fails it's a catagory: Epic.

Saying a character is witty and clever and then never giving any evidence to it is my pet peeve. It's such a let down. Don't get me wrong, it is HARD to write. Humor really is the hardest genre and witty dialogue takes talent. I get this. But if you can't do it, don't do it.
