It was a well-written and told a lot about life in the historical period before the Revolutionary War. The author left room for you to interpret it differently, and my interpretation was that Phillis Wheatley was a spoiled girl who had a particular lust for her landlord. I was sad to see Nathaniel's relationship as Phillis's mentor and best friend go from that to a very cold presence. I thought it ended pathetically.
