The early part of this book is a little tough to get through, because there's a lot of brutal stuff happening to the main character (ish), Liga. The story takes place at its own pace after that, though, in a sort of dreamlike progression for a while. It picks up in later periods, though.

There's a lot to like about this one, and it kept me interested and intrigued while I listened to the audiobook in the car. In reality, it was sort of a lifesaver, because I was having a few BAD weeks and I really needed to be distracted.

I ended up feeling a little unfulfilled by the ending. There were a few plot threads that I felt to be left hanging, and I thought there'd be a bit more of a "payoff" for a few of the characters than there was. Still, it was pretty cool, and I considered giving it four stars. If there was a half star system, it would have been 3.5, easy.
