Brian's review
A Million Little Pieces by James Frey
In my defense, the main reason I read this before the revelation that the contents inside are essentially horseshit was because I'm a voyeur and a gorehound and get cheap thrills from reading about other people's problems. Long, graphic and bloody account of drug rehabilitation? Sign me up! It's the same reason I like crappy true crime paperbooks. Hey, I'm honest about it, anyway.
Frey is a ridiculous person who warrants punching and ridicule and possibly actual drugs and the one kind thing I can say about this book is that in light of the embarassing revelations this shitty little sub-Hemingway tough guy went through, the famous dentistry scene is now kind of funny.
