A gorgeously water-colored travel memoir about the author's one year fellowship visit to Japan, centered in Kyoto. I loved the focus on nature, which is of course very Japanese. The lovely peach, cherry and plum blossoms, maple and willow leaves break up the stories. She writes about really interesting things like the real way to drink Matcha, how to properly view Kyoto's Moss Temple, the reason for electric blankets, tasty offerings at convenience stores, homemade tofu vendors and how to celebrate Christmas in Japan.
