Definitely Dead brings Sookie to New Orleans -- the Big Easy itself -- for the very first time. Which is shocking, as she lives just upstate in sleepy (and fictional) Bon Temps. Anyhow, Harris introduces several new important players in the ever-widening drama of her world of supes – vamps, weres, shifters, and witches – and Sookie learns of the unusual fate of her late cousin Hadley, who was a recently turned vamp and former lover of the Queen of Louisiana. Meanwhile, yet another showdown between enemies camps within the vampire community threaten to tear it apart. (Where’s the UN when you need it? I guess they don’t yet have a be-fanged representative on their Security Council.)
