My third grader read this for homeschool - so I needed to read it to walk him through a writing assignment. It's a Newberry Honor book from the mid-1950's that actually had a good message (the father says "Being afraid & being brave at the same time is courage") and a nice cadence.

The rating, of course, is based on the appropriateness of the book for kids.
