Not just another Dog Lovers book.
The author writes very well, and creates excellent images through his writing. This book is about unconditional love, and relationships. Not just with the dog, but between the husband and wife as well. Funny, sad, real.
I strongly recommend you don't read this on vacation. I very STRONGLY recommend you don't read this on a place. After a few glasses of wine on a 5 hours flight, I found myself crying uncontrollably. The steward kept asking me if I was ok, and I would look at her and say "Yessssssss, (sniff) Im great!!" When you get towards the end of the book read it in private.
