The fifth book of Melissa de La Cruz's Blue Bloods series, Misguided Angel, just released this week. I've been looking forward to this book since I read the first four earlier this year.. and loved them. This book, however, was a disappointment. It was a mediocre filler book.

Why so bad? Well, the narration no longer alternates as frequently as it once did. I found myself bored following the same characters for long stretches of the storytelling when it once jumped between them so frantically. In addition to that I wasn't compelled by Schuyler and Jack's chunk of story. There was something forced (ha ha. FORCEd) about it. After all the build up to get the two together they felt like the couple who had been together forever and had already drifted apart. The Olive and Mimi portion of the book was the only part that slightly grabbed my attention, and the chunk introducing a new non-Bliss narrator didn't even warrant the read. I skipped over it. I just didn't care by that point.

Why is this one so bad? Can someone tell me who has read it? I'm a little crushed here. My anticipation was expecting the moon and beyond and I didn't get any of that and now I'm a touch jaded.

2 out of 5 stars. Meh, not enough to turn me off of the series... yet. But I won't be immediately geeked enough to pick up the sixth book the day it comes out. That, my friends, is heartbreaking.

Namida... i wasn't excited about demming too, and i gotta say i felt the same with mimi and schuyler's parts, and it feels like the characters are never concentrating on what's in front of them, i mean suddenly Schuyler is interested in MarieElean or whoever and suddenly Mimi's concerned with Victoria more than anything. the short chapters bug me off but i still continued it, demming's part was the worst but you have to continue it at least to have a clear criticising eye about all of it.

LadyTechie I wish I could. I didn't make it past the first 50 pages. I couldn't take the change in the tone. It read like a totally different author wrote it. It also seemed so separate from the rest of the series. I was really bummed about it too because I love this series. I was hoping it was me being in a different kind of book mood and not the book itself.
