Bbjoe's review
Boyhood: Scenes From Provincial Life by J.M. Coetzee
Having spent a short amount of time in South Africa, I thought this book was true to the themes I came into contact with. The personal and coming of age struggle was the kind of thing I enjoy in many books; the self analysis, the pain of maturity, the loss of innocence...
I also find it fascinating to see how relationships between human beings are shaped and you can only get that experience from the inside, either through personal experience or through the gifted hand of a good writer.
