You've Got to Read This: Contemporary American Writers Introduce Stories that Held Them in Awe by Ron Hansen
To make things easier, we at Constant Reader always use an anthology as the backbone of our Short Stories section. Right now it's this one. The pairing of the stories with intros by different writers has been very interesting. We're nearing the end of this book now. Do you have any suggestions for another good anthology?
Thank you, thank you for using You've Got to Read This.At least I currently own this - I have given (lent?) copies to so many people either the editors or Amazon should start paying me.
Paul,The anthology you suggested is out of print in this country. Even my largish public library doesn't have it. There is the doorstop size collection, The Best American Short Stories of the Century (The Best American Series) edited by John Updike that had Uncle-Tom-Cobley-And-All in it. i checked on the similar one to yours published by Granta - same story - OP.
Euth,Paul is correct. It was the older Granta edition that is OP - no surprise since Grove has the new one out in 2007.
