it was amazing
bookshelves: young-adult, childrens

I love Schmidt's descriptions of things. Set in the early 1900s this is based on a true story of how a town kicked out all of the African Americans and other folks different from themselves. The title characters are fantastic.

I'm reading Wednesday Wars by Schmidt to my fourth grade daughter, but will wait awhile to read this one. The subject matter just requires a certain level of maturity. Plus there are no happy endings.
