    <body><![CDATA[For the first 40 pages, I was convinced this was going to end up a 1 or 2 star book for me. Because these kids don't talk like kids. They don't act like kids. They don't think like kids. Bluntly, they are not kids! They can vacillate in tone from young adulthood to the middle ages through crotchety oldness and back with the greatest of ease, but they rarely hit a note of, you know, CHILDHOOD. Still. Somehow this book won me over. It truly is &quot;delightful&quot; if you can get past the not-real-kids issue. I think it was the chickens. And the leading man's character growth. And the tree.]]></body>
