My disappointment in this book is partially my fault- I thought it was a trilogy and could have probably taken the time to notice that it was now a quartet. As I read the book, I was down to the last twenty pages and the big giant battle had yet to take place and I grew annoyed, wondering how he was going to wrap this up so quickly.

In general, my quibbles with this book are the same as they were for the second book. The author is a little too in love with his world and spends too much time introducing characters and places and things, rather than moving the action forward at a fast pace as he did most of the time in the first volume. This series will supposedly end up being four books, four relatively thick books. I'd propose that it could easily have been a trilogy of thinner books had his editor been a little more assertive.
