This isn't really a romance. I thought it was. This is more like a History book with pieces of story. So from that point of view, the book isn't very interesting.
As a History book it's quite nice and does give you a clear picture of the Vienna of the ending of the XIX century.
The reason why I read it was, obviously, because of Wildhorn's "Rudolf". Well...I can't really see how did he based the musical on this...since it has NOTHING in common with the musical. I have a feeling he based the show on the mini-series "Kronprinz Rudolf" which was based on this.
So, yeah, if you want to read a bit of history, this book is nice. If you want a romance, skip it.
