Just by reading the description of this heartwarming novelette, one can pretty much conclude where this ship is docking; however the smooth sailing through the story makes for an easy, comforting read. If what you want is to drink something warm, snuggle up on the couch, turn on the Christmas tree lights, and be entertained for a few hours, this is your book. Debbie Macomber has a way of creating characters and prose that make you feel cozy inside, and have hope for the world (in a fairly superficial way). Combine this novel with any of her other many Christmas stories, or perhaps the Hallmark Channel version of her Mrs. Miracle which debuted this weekend, and you have yourself a merry little Christmas starter. In fact, although I did enjoy The Perfect Christmas, I am happy that I borrowed instead of bought it. I will, however, be keeping my recorded version of Mrs. Miracle on my DVR for the entire Christmas season... it was that cute!
