This book was a little disappointing. It was pretty well drawn, with decent characterization, but rather like The Hunger Games
and the Pretties
series, the characters never stop to think about their predicaments -- the justice or injustice of how they're responding to the situations they're stuck in.
The premise of the book is interesting, but it's really hard to discuss without spoiling the (rather predictable) mystery of the story. While the characters are likable, they're also a little flat -- the hero is heroic, the villains are villainous, and so forth.
