This is the first Temperance Brennan book I'v read. I enjoyed it and although I really like the TV show, I like the Temperance character in the book more than the one on TV. The TV Temperance is just TOO logical making her odd. The book Temperance is someone more real and easier to relate to. This book is the 9th in the series. My next one will be #1. In this book, Temperance is on Dewees, a barrier island north of Charleston, South Carolina, where she is leading a student excavation of a Native American burial ground. She takes over the investigation of several bodies for her friend Emma, who is the coroner, and is ill with cancer. She ends up working with her ex-husband, current boyfriend, and the local sheriff.
