Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman
by Jon Krakauer
by Jon Krakauer
Never thought much of Pat Tillman. Thought he was a self-absorbed NFL asshole. This book however, reveals him to be a little more multi-facted than that. Still self-absorbed, no doubt. Here a few things I learned about Pat Tillman from this book:
--He read and enjoyed Noam Chomsky, and actually intended to meet with him to discuss the military-industrial complex.
--Enjoyed Emerson, especially "Self-Reliance"--unsurprisingly.
--Enjoyed drinking coffee and listening to NPR.
--Had John Krakauer's 'Eiger Dreams' on his person when he died.
Apart from the personal revelations about Pat and his life, the book does a thorough job of detailing the lengths the US government went to to initially attempt to twist Pat's story and turn him into a media hero and then, when the truth started to leak out, the government's attempt to cover up their lies.
This book is for AZ Cardinals fans, Krakauer fans, conspiracy theorists and anyone who enjoys biographies of extreme personalities.
