really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy, i-own, young-adult, children-books
Read from July 18 to 27, 2011 , read count: 2

Second readings always show how good the book actually is. It wasn't as good as the first time (back then I was like 13, finishing Eragon and Eldest is less than 3 days, head over heels with dragons), but still good enough.

I can see now that it's a little childish, some events too fortunate and convenient, but I devoured it as much as The Chronicles of Prydain when I was little. It's much more accessible than Lord of the Rings for young readers.

I like the pure fantasy along with the language that feels so noble and ancient-ish. I love it when characters change, grow and mature with time and Eragon did exactly that. I like it when I have the feeling that I'm reading about something so extraodinary and special, that 100 years from now, there will be legends about it (in the world form the book I mean) and I'm watching this legend coming to life. And above all - I love Saphira's sense of humour.

Saphira: "If anything happens, I’m going to pin you to my back and never let you off.
Eragon: I love you too.
Saphira: Then I will bind you all the tighter.
