Adorable story with fun characters. The author's a little blunt about telling you characters' underlying fears and motivations, but given the light comic touch to most of the story, the expository elements do a good job of keeping the emotional angst which gives the story depth from taking over and making the book too disjointed in tone. (accidentally posted this review under the sequel -- which I haven't read. It was always meant for this book).
