There's something magical about Arthurian legends, be it in a medieval fairytale setting or in a harsh, post-Roman world. And even in a story where the magic is explained in a logical way, you're still grinning like the kid that got the cookie. And this trilogy is one good cookie!
The main character here is Merlin, who we get to meet as a young boy at the court of his grandfather King, up to old age. The setting is post-Roman Britain, and the writing is good.
If you like Arthurian legends, this is the stuff you have to read!
