I was entertained by this book. It is an interesting notion to think of taking a children’s book with only a few words in it and expand it to a novel. The children’s book is simple and to expand it, I felt that Eggers did what his character (Max) did in the book. As king, Max kept running out of things to entertain the wild things so he’d come up with a new idea like, have a war, build a fort, or howl. I mean you can only rumpus for so many pages. Once Eggers got enough content and activities in to fill the novel, he sent max home. I thought Max learned a bit from the Wild Things but his time on the island drug on a little too long.
