I enjoy these stories as reminders of the simplicity to be found in spending outdoorsy time with a friend. Also, I can relate to the characters. For example, one of them decides to plant seeds in his garden and is much impatient over the lengthy amount of time required to see them sprout! This is why I often buy "live/dead" flowers for my vases around the house. I am more easily gratified by the instant color and vivacity when I buy the "3 for $12" bunches at the grocery store than if I spent $12 and 6-20 weeks watching for hundreds of little shoots from the ground. :) The story about cookies and willpower is also relate-able! I want to climb a ladder, take the box off the top of the fridge, untie the string, open the box, then enjoy...
