Not quite as good as the first several books. The plot has some good characters and the creation of a new magic weapon that turns up time and time again in future books, but the magic itself just never settled very well. The story is about the son and daughter of the hero from the Elfstones books. They are imbued with the magic left over from his Father's extended use of Elven magic. For the brother, it is the magic of illusion. For the sister, the power to alter reality. While the sister is sought on a quest to destroy ancient evil, the brother is contacted by an ancient Faerie to save the Silver River, and in doing so, help his sister avoid falling prey to the seductive evil she is sent to destroy.
