A girl grows up in a castle with a wall. Determined to see over it, she winds up locked in the top of a tree, with nothing to do but grow her hair and no defense but the whips she makes with her braids. Escaping her prison, without the aid of any princes, she struggles to find her place and restore order to her environment.

Punzie is smart, strong, honest, foolhardy, confident, and lucky. All the sorts of things that we admire our heroes. Not a particularly deep book, but a very satisfying, light read.
