Would recommend: Yes

I read the last half of this book (300 pages) in one sitting last night, and up until that point, I thanked my lucky stars that it hadn't scared me yet. All of the blurb reviews on the cover called it a thriller, and I was afraid to read it at night, but then, at the 300-page mark, I could not stop reading, and that was inconvenient, as I am now freaked out by the twisted ending.

Initially, I was put off by the Swedish person- and place-names, but once I let that wash over me and identified the main characters, it was fine. It's just a little startling at first. My biggest hang-up (out of very few) was that the main character had this steady stream of bedroom escapades, and for no reason I could understand. It's like women were lining up at his door, and I thought, "Seriously?" every time it happened.

Overall, the plot sucked me in about 1/3 through and continued to deliver. Fair warning: there are moments of sheer brutality. I would like to read the other two books from this author, but I may have to give it a couple of months.
