Westerfeld's best work. The alternate World War I he has created is fully imagined and filled with wonder. And the accompanying illustrations are spectacular! I was engrossed, wishing that I could sail through the skies in a hydrogen-filled flying whale or clomp through the forest in a gigantic mechanical walker. The characters are well-developed and you can't wait to see what is going to happen next. The first book of the Leviathan Series. Recommened for people who liked "Airborn" and the "Steampunk" genre.
