This is the least pretentious, least annoying missionary story I have ever heard -fiction or non. He doesn't even get into religion that much at all until the very last chapter -and then he describes why Christianity is simply NOT the answer for everyone and how it came to no longer be the answer even for him!
Plus, the language and culture parts of the book -which is most of the book- are intriguing and fascinating.
