it was ok
bookshelves: brontephilia
Read in October, 2009, read count: 1

I bought it because I found it for under a dollar, and I can't say it was worth more.

The main problem is, as the author mentions in the first pages, that very little is known about the details of how the Brontës celebrated Christmas...which makes it hard to write a book about it. Basically the book is filled with loose conjectures like "this is a Victorian Christmas custom that might have been part of the Brontës' Christmas," and "Charlotte once wrote to Robert Southey, so here's a poem he wrote about Christmas," and "here's a 5-page excerpt from Wuthering Heights that briefly mentions Christmas."

Really, what's the point?
