it was amazing
bookshelves: my-own-library

I absolutely loved this book. I bought it in Chicago on vacation knowing I needed something long to start on the train ride home, and I just finished it months later (taking many breaks to read library books that had to go back soon.) Amber is despicable and never becomes a character I could like, yet I was compelled to keep reading. Parts of it reminded me of Gone With the Wind, particularly how the main character is a jerk that doesn't ever really grow up. It was mindless enough that I could read it in the dead of night when I had to get up with my newborn son, and pick it up the next morning and remember what had happened, without being trashy and full of pulsating members, like most romances. Actually, I'm not sure why it's described as a romance, since there is a lot of implied sex but thankfully not the pages and pages of descriptive sex.
