Call # 616.89 STRAUCH B

Rebecca's rating - 4 stars

Think middle age is the beginning of a mental meltdown? Think again. Strauch gives hope that with with the right mix of exercise, diet and mindful stretching you can stave off dementia, Alzheimer's and other mental maladies. At first, I was a little turned off by some of the fluffy anectdotes that Strauch used to illustrate the latest science on the aging brain. I was thinking "Just the facts, ma'am!" But within a chapter or two she really hits her stride giving you just the right mix of anecdote and hard science. I learned a lot about my brain. This is a very hopeful read, and almost a must-read for anyone in their 40s, 50s or 60s.
