I find that I often tend to have a problem with female characters written by female writers (ironic being a woman, I know). That said, this book is incredible in that it presents more than a dozen women, none perfect, but all real and evoking an odd sense of affection.

It's been said in countless reviews but Amy's background as a songwriter shows in the way both the sentences flow and in the seamless transition from one woman's life to the next. I can't recall the last time I read a book that moved so smoothly from one character to the next. Though I always wish enjoyable books could be longer, at the end of this one there's a satisfying sense of closure that didn't feel rushed.

Absolutely worth the wait, and I definitely hope this won't be Amy's first and only novel!
