Tosh's review
Forbidden Colors
by Yukio Mishima
Love the Mishima, Morrison comparison. God knows he would have loved with the young lizard king what with his hankerings for night soil men and other marginals.
I have heard there was a deep bond between Kawabata and him but if it was erotic that it was sublimated. Many blame Kawabata's suicide on his ability to cope with Mishima's strange passing, though. Who can say. Japanese writers kill themselves with the frequency that American actresses go to rehab.

Rumored to be about Mishima's relationship with the great Japanese author Kawabata, but nevertheless it's a wonderful relationship novel. The Mishima mystique is incredibly layered and all his works are sort of clues to the performer that he is. Writer, actor, playwright, filmmaker, and truly an erotic politician.
